چکیده

The existing recycling methods of PHA-based material are ineffective in terms increasing resource efficiency and the production high value end-of-life products. Therefore, this study, a novel approach acidogenic fermentation was proposed to recycle PHB-based composites reinforced with natural fibers such as cellulose, chitin, chitosan, orange waste, sawdust, soy protein, starch. inclusion sawdust improved impact properties while other fillers had various effects on mechanical properties. These three neat PHB were subsequently subjected biological degradation via digestion determine possibility converting into volatile fatty acids (VFAs). Two different pH levels 6 10 applied assess effect bioconversion inhibition methanogenesis. results showed promising degradation, contributing considerable VFA 2.5 g/L at after 47 days. At 6, presence biocomposites promoted rate. On contrary, proved be more suitable for fibers. which is produced can recirculated production, fitting concept circulating bioeconomy.

Production of natural fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites through the use of polyhydroxybutyrate-rich biomass.

Previous research has demonstrated that production of natural fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites (NFRTCs) utilizing bacterially-derived pure polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) does not yield a product that is cost competitive with synthetic plastic-based NFRTCs. Moreover, the commercial production of pure PHB is not without environmental impacts. To address these issues, we integrated unpurified ...

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

Hydrogen and methane production through two-stage mesophilic anaerobic digestion of olive pulp.

The present study focused on the anaerobic biohydrogen production from olive pulp (two phase olive mill wastes, TPOMW) and the subsequent anaerobic treatment of the effluent for methane production under mesophilic conditions in a two-stage process. Biohydrogen production from water-diluted (1:4) olive pulp was investigated at hydraulic retention times (HRT) of 30 h, 14.5 h and 7.5 h while metha...

Methane production by anaerobic digestion of wastewater and solid wastes

Anaerobic conversion of organic materials and pollutants is an established technology for environmental protection through the treatment of wastes and wastewater. The end product is biogas –a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide–, which is a useful, renewable energy source. Anaerobic digestion is a technologically simple process, with a low energy requirement, used to convert organic material ...
